portrait.jpgAbout The Artist

Julie Feldman has immersed herself in several areas of work throughout her career: weaving, hand painted decorative textiles, dried botanicals, and in 2015, a return to full time painting.

During her 30 years in Los Angeles, she created large scale wall hangings and extravagant botanical arrangements for commercial and residential interiors. Her work was sold at Smith and Hawken, Saks, Gumps and many boutiques across the country. She was featured in Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, Country Home, LA Magazine and many regional publications.

Her current work is usually inspired by personally meaningful photographs, often sanded and muted in between layers of paint, until they are on the verge of fading away, but in the process, strengthening the underlying spirit of the image.

Julie spent 2 years in Paris, first at the American College and then at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. She then returned home to Baltimore, where she finished her studies at the Maryland Institute of Art.

After getting married and having their son Nick, the young family moved to Los Angeles where they lived and worked for more than thirty years.

Julie is a former member of Women Painters West, The Los Angeles Art Association, Collage Artists of America,
and the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art.

Her paintings have been included in many Juried and Group Shows and are in several private collections throughout the country.

Now in Florida, she is becoming a part of its vital art community. In her first juried show here in 2020, she was awarded First Prize by the eminent juror, Nofa Dixon, for her painting, Second Sight Series #1.

In November, she was awarded First Place in the 31st Annual All Florida Juried show.for her painting, Backward Glance.  She was selected over several hundred artists by the renowned artist, Kirk Ke Wang.

She is a member of The Artist Alliance, Femart Gallery, The Jacksonville Artists Guild and the Saint Augustine
Art Association.

One of her paintings is included in The Anthology, Rivers Rising, published by Women Writing for a Change.

Her work was featured in Artsy Sharks's Artist Showcase for Spring 2021.

Julie now lives in Jacksonville with her husband Richard and their standard poodle Max.
